Action Alert: Tell CNN That Enough is Enough

Cross-posted at Clintonistas for Obama.

We've heard it from Ken Rudin, we've heard from Monica Crowley, we've heard it from Andrew Sullivan, we've heard it from Lars Larson and we're sick of it.

CNN should be ashamed of itself for allowing this comment to go unchallenged this evening:

(via Gotham Acme)

This is (at least) the third time that CNN has allowed this comment to go unchallenged on the air.  It's not cute.  It's not funny.  It's demeaning and sexist and we cannot sit silent when a major news network allows commentators to make these kind of comments about our progressive leaders.

Follow this link to CNN and tell CNN that this kind of sexist discourse should not be tolerated by the network and demand that Alex Castellanos be fired as a CNN Contributor!

Be sure to include this link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xji9-AN-3 5o) in your message.

No tip jar. (2.00 / 9)

Too short to be a real diary.  Please follow this link to CNN and tell them to start acting like news professionals instead of drunken frat boys at a frat party.

No offense intended to frat boys who get drunk at frat parties.

;)

Pathetic.

He had to know how that sounded (2.00 / 8)

and I think even Soledad was a bit stunned. Rec for you. This is unacceptable, and I left a comment to that effect.

Re: He had to know how that sounded (2.00 / 4)

For once, I'd like to hear a "journalist" call that crap out on air.

Soledad controls the mic. She could have rebuked him publicly for that kind of comment, with something like "that kind of view doesn't reflect the standards of our coverage" before bumping to the next segment.

I swear, these TV personalities have no courage or integrity whatsoever.

Re: He had to know how that sounded (2.00 / 1)

Why all the surprise, there were dozens of sexist remarks directed to Hillary Clinton by the Obama lovers in the media and what was done about that?

Re: He had to know how that sounded (2.00 / 3)

Color me unimpressed with Soledad's stunned moment.  She's actually a fine journalist - she has real skills.  But clearly, one of them isn't calling out the bullshit when she sees it.  She's way too smart to not know how totally unacceptable that was, and she did nothing about it.

I wasn't impressed (2.00 / 1)

it made it worse that she saw it so immediately

Re: He had to know how that sounded (none / 0)

She's an atrocious "journalist".  She's the one who said on CNN that Rev. Wright hit a home run in one of his speeches.

The jackass used the tired old Glenn Close with a knife routine, comparing Hillary to that. Unacceptable.

Come on people (2.00 / 1)

don't just comment and think about it, do it. Take action!

To often I think many on the blogs cry foul and get mad but few take action. If everyone who feels that action needs to be taken actually followed through.... they could NEVER ignore us!

Re: Action Alert: Tell CNN That Enough is Enough (2.00 / 1)

Yeah, a pretty disgusting comment.

But, the more Clinton hold-outs see what Republicans really think of their candidate (and them and their beliefs by extension), the more likely they are to come around to supporting the Democratic ticket.  We had a tough primary fight, but I can't imagine most of us (Obama supporters) really dislike or hate Hillary or her supporters.  But Republicans do.  They always have and always will.  And as much as they want to poach those voters, they just can't seem to hide their anti-Hillary venom.

Re: Action Alert: Tell CNN That Enough is Enough (2.00 / 1)

To be fair to Andrew Sullivan, he uses the Glen Close analogy to describe both Clintons, not just Hillary.  He also compares both Clintons to the Terminator and to zombies from 28 Days.  In fact, his op-ed in which he drew those comparisons is actually is really about bashing Bill Clinton's presidency, and his desire not to see a repeat of it through Hillary Clinton's presidential bid.

He also calls Hillary "Dick Cheney in a pantsuit".  What's your point?  He's a Republican pig and always will be.

Re: Action Alert: Tell CNN That Enough is Enough (2.00 / 3)

typical fucking alex castellanos. man I really dont like that jerk face. CNN is seriously sliding in it's standards, this will be the second time I send them an angry email. cable news and all its bullshit is why I dont even bother watching anymore. [cspan, you're my hero]

email:

Im so disappointed in you CNN. Honestly out of all the cable news networks I generally thought you were the best. But after watching your program tonight, and witnessesing how you allow your political commentator, Alex Castellanos, to use a demeaning and sexist analogy towards a political figure, Hillary Clinton,  Im quite certain that I will not watch CNN anymore unless some action is taken. [link to video] This wouldn't be the first time that Mr. Castellanos has used demeaning and sexist language towards women on CNN. How can you allow Mr. Castellanos to commit such acts and not reprimand him? I expect some standards on your part CNN. Are Mr. Castellanos' remarks your standard? I certainly hope not.

alright my angry email quota is filled for tonight.

Not the worst thing he's said. . . (2.00 / 1)

Castellanos has said that it was "accurate" to call Hillary Clinton a bitch.  This is not the first time he's been rather offensive on air.
